Effective and Natural Home Remedies for Curing Acne

Looking for home remedies for curing acne? Almost everyone has suffered from acne as some point in their life. I can remember finding a pimple right before my senior prom! Ugh! Acne isn't something I really want to remember about adolescence; thankfully there are many home remedies for curing acne. Many of these are even effective home remedies for cystic acne!

What causes acne? Have you ever wondered why some people seem to be plagued with acne, while others have clear, perfect skin? Blame genes, acne tends to be a highly hereditary trait. 9 Acne forms when oil glands on the face, chest and back become clogged with sebum, bacteria or dead skin cells. 9

Acne formation is very frequently caused by changing hormone levels. 9 Adolescents are notorious for their changing hormones and rapid growth; this is why acne plagues the teenage set. Pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding women are also very prone to acne due to changing hormones. 9and in postpartum and breastfeeding women. On that same note, the use of hormonal contraceptives can often cause acne. 4,9

Other causes of acne include stress, cosmetic use, certain medications and exposure to oil from outside sources (i.e., a mechanic or someone who stands over a deep-fat fryer).9

Types of Acne

  • Whiteheads form when the skin stretches over the blocked pore.
  • Blackheads contain a dark, exposed spot at the opening.1
  • Cystic: Cysts form when several blocked pores beneath the skin join together.1

However, you might not want to tell your teen exactly what this home remedy is....just call it liquid gold!
  • First Urine: All gagging aside..some say this really works. Pee in a cup first thing in the morning, and use a q-tip to dab a urine on your pimples. Interestingly enough, many high-end facial creams and make-ups contain urea (which is derived from urine) as an ingredient. 1
