Hangovers are due to dehydration. One of the primary "ingredients" of dehydration is potassium. You are deficient in potassium, which gives you the headache.

Try eating a banana after you've been drinking too much. It replaces the potassium you've lost and should make the hangover not hurt so badly or go away altogether!
